Diagnose-Funk has published a new ElektrosmogReport. After serving as the senior editor of the ElektrosmogReport for 20 years, biologist Isabel Wilke has retired. Thank you, Isabel! Biologists Roman Herren and Alain Thill have taken her place.
The 1/2025 issue includes 13 studies: Nine focus on biological and medical effects, two of which investigate the effects of 5G frequencies. Two of the four review papers discuss cancer as an endpoint and, the other two discuss migraines and headaches.
Highlights include the following:
A study by Kizilçay et al. (2024) shows that cell phone radiation opens the blood-brain barrier. This reaffirms the findings of the Salford studies (2009), which sparked significant discussion when they were published 20 years ago. Headaches are an epidemic. A meta-analysis by He et al. (2024) revealed a positive correlation between weekly cell phone use and migraine risk. Farashi et al. (2022) also examined this relationship. Conclusion: The risk of headaches is approximately twice as high for the group with higher exposure than for the group with lower exposure.

The ElektrosmogReport is also available on the EMF-Portal, the world's largest open-access database of scientific studies on the biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields at RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
Diagnose-Funk e.V., a prominent German environmental organization and independent voice, publishes the ElektrosmogReport and advocates for public protection from electromagnetic fields. Active since 2009, Diagnose-Funk e.V. has promoted EMF safety through consumer advocacy, public education, and scientific research. The organization maintains a research database called EMF:data.
The ElektrosmogReport has been published continuously since 1995. It evolved from the Strahlentelex initiative, which operated a monitoring station in Berlin and published the radiation levels of specific foods following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. In the mid-1990s, the focus shifted to the impact of electromagnetic fields on the environment and health. It provides independent reviews of recently published EMF research.
