Keep your bedroom clean

Daily

  • Open all the windows fully after getting up in the morning.

  • Fold back the duvet.

  • Open all the windows fully before going to sleep in the evening.

Weekly

  • Remove clutter.

  • Empty the wastebasket.

  • Put away clothes.

  • Clean surfaces with a damp cloth.

  • Vacuum the floor.

  • Change the pillowcase.

Monthly

  • Change the bed linens every 2 to 4 weeks.

  • Vacuum window screens and/or blinds.

Yearly

  • Vacuum the mattress every 6 to 12 months.

  • Wash curtains and/or blinds.

  • Wash window screens.

  • Clean all walls and the ceiling with a damp cloth.

  • Thoroughly clean baseboard heaters / HVAC vents before the start of the heating season.

Good to know

  • Wash pillowcases, sheets, and duvet covers in hot water (at least 60°C/140°F) with laundry detergent that contains peroxide-based bleach.

  • Choose a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter.

  • Prefer natural cleaning cloths to plastic microfiber cloths.
